Research

  1. Optical communications: ultra-high-capacity and ultra-long-reach transmission systems and networks, novel optical amplifiers, all-optical regenerators and signal processors, new modulation formats, quantum communications.
  2. Nonlinear and quantum optics: manipulation of quantum properties of light (quantum information processing); manipulation of spatial degrees of freedom of nonlinear-optical processes in bulk crystals, optical fibers, and waveguides; generation, characterization, and application of non-classical states of light (e.g. squeezed, twin-beam, or entangled states).
  3. Nanophotonics: nonlinear-optical effects, information processing in micro- and nanoscale structures.
